Dr A.J. Yates is now providing free sessions to businesses who are at the start of their journey to support the mental health of their employees, and who would like to know more about the sorts of things that they can do. AJ has run two in-company sessions this week – thank you to those who have made him feel so welcome, and who are looking to better support the wellbeing of their staff. This week saw a large number of events, programmes and articles designed to raise awareness of mental health and mental health issues. There were some that are worth making the effort to check out if you missed them, including a Louis Theroux documentary Mothers on the Edge which looked at the issue of mental health problems around the time of childbirth, and local favourite Nadiya Hussain talking about her experience of living with anxiety in Nadiya: Anxiety and Me. Both are currently available on the BBC iPlayer. The Guardian also ran a supplement to help raise awareness, available to view here.
Dr A.J. Yates is now a Youth Mental Health First Aider having successfully completed an upskill to teach the two-day Youth Mental Health First Aid course. Once he has completed his portfolio, we will add dates for the Youth course – watch this space!
